Flavor of India (Lenexa, KS, right off I-35)
We went for dinner this evening, and I can recommend them to chowhounds on the basis of one meal, I think. We had perfectly cooked tandoor chicken, tender, juicy and hot. They do not overdo the red dye, which is kind of nice not to have your chicken day glo. The saag paneer was the best I've had in the metro. Loaded with spinach, not at all greasy, and with many nice chunks of fresh tasting paneer, it was just delicious. We started with a rava dosa with onions cooked into the batter on the griddle. The edges were crispy and the center softened as it sat, scooping up thick coconut chutney, tomato chutney with a nice touch of back of the mouth heat, and a lovely sambhar. The cook purees some of the lentils, is my guess, and then adds the rest as well as bite size pieces of vegetables, clearly made with care. Good tangy flavor and heat. Great food in all!
Our server was soft spoken and attentive, always there when we needed him, and he knew the menu well. He answered all our questions with good humor. The dining room is quiet and a bit dark, the music soothing, and joy of joys, there are no two tops in sight! It's so nice to have a bit of room to relax when you're a party of two. We will be back. Hope you all check it out and please share!

re: KansasTravel
Yeah, that shopping center has a lot of vacancies, as do many in the metro. I hope hounds will check them out because not only is the food well prepared, their prices are also more reasonable than most Indian restaurants in the area. There weren't many customers for a Friday night, which concerned me, considering that they're firing on all cylinders, so to speak. Good food, good prices, good service, convenient location.
