I have been frequenting Mcewan's over the past three weeks. I have hesitated at the Waygu price point, but have been satisfied with the lower priced cuts. Anyone have any recommendations?
Off the top of my head, we've tried NY USDA Prime Striploin, Alberta AAA Striploin and T-Bone many times this summer for backyard BBQ with friends. All have been good and we didn't find much difference in the higher grade versions, especially considering the price. Have not tried the Waygu yet.
As well, we've tried their ribs and rack of lamb. All excellent.
All in all, we have not been disappointed yet with the meat selection at McEwans.
We have tried the Waygu (one steak) seared, and were not overly impressed.
It was very good, but not worth the price.
Tried their dry aged rib, and they were good, but not especially so.
I prefer their wet aged steaks, and really liked the USDA Rib, could almost cut them with a butter knife..
DH prefers the Alberta Striploin which has more "Chew".
