Great Hudson Valley Caterer?

c
cglove Aug 14, 2009 10:55 AM

I am getting married at a beautiful estate on the Hudson River near Olana and Hudson, New York in September of 2010. Food is really important to us and we want to make sure we pick the right caterer. Anyone have any suggestions for good caterers in the Hudson Valley? We want someone who will do something simple and delicious with all the great local and seasonal ingredients from the area.

Thanks!

My company has used Holberts Catering several times in the past. Great food and wonderful service. I would definately add them to the list.

I love Abigail Kirsch's food as well but we always have to eat out after! They are not big on portions and abundance but the quality is there for certain. I guess thats why the diner in Tarrytown & Elmsford are so busy at that midnight to 1am hour...

My wife and I got married on our farm in Columbia County. We used Bezalel Gables and the food was brilliant. They used all local products and it tasted homemade and came out hot and presentation was beautiful.. Attention to detail and Servers were on point too. We had them up in the hayloft for cockatil hour and a sit down in a tent on our top pasture for 200 people. I was going to say you can bring up Someone from NYC but there really are a good amount of very passionate and talented caterers that work with some of the over 4000 farms in the Valley. Culinary Institute Grads often stay in the region.

Abigail Kirsch is by far the best caterer in the Hudson Valley and NY. Her food is uniquely prepared and delicious.

Planning my daughter's wedding and are going to use Fresh Company: http://www.freshcompany.net/

Haven't tasted the food yet, but they're wonderful to work with, so far. They are dedicated to using local, seasonal produce.

We just got married this past August and I can't say enough good things about the Artist's Palate in Poughkeepsie. They were great at listening to the type of food we wanted (gourmet barbeque) and coming up with a menu that fit. They also went above and beyond in helping us manage the details of the day.. since I decided to tackle the whole event for 90 without any sort of event planner.

Good luck and enjoy your day! Hope this suggestion helps!

would you mind sharing the name of your site and the caterer, if you have chosen one? My fiance and I are looking for the exact same thing, only for the summer. We would really like a private estate space for our wedding but are having difficulty finding one and a caterer.

                          Thanks!

I regularly perform at Weddings and have seen (as well as tasted) the offerings of
many Hudson Valley Caterer's. By far, the best food I tasted was from "Gourmet To Go".

They do regular meal course's or buffets depending on what is needed.

My wife and I got married in Ghent, NY 5 years ago and we used Bridge Creek Catering. Can not say enough good things about them. Extremely professional, friendly, and great food! Paul even had us over his house for dinner for our tasting!

Did you have a coursed out meal or a buffet?
