Great Hudson Valley Caterer?

I am getting married at a beautiful estate on the Hudson River near Olana and Hudson, New York in September of 2010. Food is really important to us and we want to make sure we pick the right caterer. Anyone have any suggestions for good caterers in the Hudson Valley? We want someone who will do something simple and delicious with all the great local and seasonal ingredients from the area.

  1. I've heard great things about F.E.A.S.T. Which side of the river is this on?

Hudson is on the east side of the river

      1. My wife and I got married in Ghent, NY 5 years ago and we used Bridge Creek Catering. Can not say enough good things about them. Extremely professional, friendly, and great food! Paul even had us over his house for dinner for our tasting!

Did you have a coursed out meal or a buffet?

        2. I regularly perform at Weddings and have seen (as well as tasted) the offerings of
many Hudson Valley Caterer's. By far, the best food I tasted was from "Gourmet To Go".

They do regular meal course's or buffets depending on what is needed.

          1. would you mind sharing the name of your site and the caterer, if you have chosen one? My fiance and I are looking for the exact same thing, only for the summer. We would really like a private estate space for our wedding but are having difficulty finding one and a caterer.

We are getting married at Oak Hill Estate. Still haven't picked a caterer, but I will post our choice once we do!

            2. We just got married this past August and I can't say enough good things about the Artist's Palate in Poughkeepsie. They were great at listening to the type of food we wanted (gourmet barbeque) and coming up with a menu that fit. They also went above and beyond in helping us manage the details of the day.. since I decided to tackle the whole event for 90 without any sort of event planner.

Good luck and enjoy your day! Hope this suggestion helps!

              1. used FEAST (round hill house)for my daughter'd wedding. Personnel were okay but the food was awful. very disappointed

                1. Planning my daughter's wedding and are going to use Fresh Company: http://www.freshcompany.net/

Haven't tasted the food yet, but they're wonderful to work with, so far. They are dedicated to using local, seasonal produce.

                  1. Abigail Kirsch is by far the best caterer in the Hudson Valley and NY. Her food is uniquely prepared and delicious.

                    1. My wife and I got married on our farm in Columbia County. We used Bezalel Gables and the food was brilliant. They used all local products and it tasted homemade and came out hot and presentation was beautiful.. Attention to detail and Servers were on point too. We had them up in the hayloft for cockatil hour and a sit down in a tent on our top pasture for 200 people. I was going to say you can bring up Someone from NYC but there really are a good amount of very passionate and talented caterers that work with some of the over 4000 farms in the Valley. Culinary Institute Grads often stay in the region.

                      1. Has anyone heard anything about Swoon Kitchen Bar? It is a restaurant in Hudson. I think they cater. Thoughts?

                        Swoon Kitchenbar
340 Warren St, Hudson, NY 12534

I love Abigail Kirsch's food as well but we always have to eat out after! They are not big on portions and abundance but the quality is there for certain. I guess thats why the diner in Tarrytown & Elmsford are so busy at that midnight to 1am hour...

                        2. Homespun foods in Beacon NY does amazing work... creative, classic, and daring all in one... beautiful food!

                          1. my whole family has used Pamela's (mentioned above) for probably at least the last 15 years for all sorts of events. Can't recommend them enough.

                            1. susan lawrence in chappaqua does catering, they are pricey, but i have always found their foods to be excellent and well displayed, this from the storefront, i have never seen the actual catering side of their business

                              1. I'm getting married at Oak Hill Estate in September of 2011 - how was your wedding and which caterer did you use?

                                1. My company has used Holberts Catering several times in the past. Great food and wonderful service. I would definately add them to the list.
