Nirvana in the ice cream aisle

Ruby Jewel ice cream sandwiches at Whole Foods. Yum, yum, yum!!!!
Today I tried the cinnamon chocolate cookie with espresso ice cream, unbelievable.
The cookie has the perfect amount of salt to balance with the sweet ice cream.
I got home at 10 am with the intention of saving it for later took a bite to taste, went back to the freezer 10 minutes later, cut it in half, ate that and went back again 10 minutes later and finished it.
It was gone by 10:30 am. Ice cream for breakfast!!!!!

  1. i remember seeing those featured on the FN show "Recipe for Success" a few years ago - glad she made a success of it!

    1. I don't know what it is w/ ice cream sandwiches. Even the pedestrian Pet ones call me from the freezer. I'm quasi-serious here...i think I can hear them. I had to go cold-turkey on those years ago. i can't IMAGINE the pull that a gourmet ic sandwich w/ coffee and salt in it would have on me.

I wonder if WF will carry them nationally?

      1. Ruby Jewel is from Portland, Ore. and they are indeed very good. They also carry them at Locali in Hollywood. I like the lemon cookie with lavender ice cream.

        1. Sounds amazing. Which location(s) of Whole Foods have you bought it at?

click on the map to find a store near you (several - though not all - of the LA WFMs carry them, as do a couple of indies in Malibu & Venice).

I got it at the one in Glendale.
              They had 4 different flavors.

            2. I have tried the chocolate cookie with peanut butter ice cream and it is really the best thing I (possibly) have ever eaten. I have also tried the chocolate cookie with fresh mint ice cream. If you buy one, be prepared because you will eat the whole thing and eventually go back for more.

              1. So not fair, only as far east as Texas?

Apparently, you can buy them online, delivered to your door now.

                2. When I lived in Portland I used to buy these at the City Market all the time. I loved the Peanut Butter Chocolate one, and the Lavendar and Vanilla one. So good--and so creamy. The cookie was fantastic.

Now, sadly, I'm back in DC and must survive until I can travel out there again to get them.

                  1. Ruby Jewel is so YUMMY! I get mine when I'm in the mood for true richness at Fred Meyer's!
