ISO Palazzolo's gelato (in southwest MI)

shorty68 Aug 12, 2009 05:03 PM

Are there any grocery stores or restaurants serving Palazzolo's gelato in the Saugatuck area (or some other beach town between Saugatuck and Ludington)?

Super Valu in Douglas had a small display case of it, not sure how many flavors. Not by the other ice creams (as one would expect, but then again it is DeMond's), but over by the deli counter on the direct opposite corner of the store.

Su Casa no longer has the gelato stand in front (that's moved to their South Haven location), but they still have quite a few flavors in the freezer in the attached supermercado at the Fennville location, including some of the amazing Mexican-specific ones like Horchata. . Scott D, isn't there someplace in Douglas that serves Palazzolo's as well? I seem to remember some sort of treat or coffee shop that did, but i can't remember any names....

It also seems like last time I was wandering around Saugatuck there was someplace right on the river north of Coral Gables that had it advertised in their window...

Can't think of the name of the place either... it's right on Center between Dutcher Lodge and Old House Antiques, though. I'm a Respite devotee. :)

Thanks a lot for the tip. I went to DeMond's Super Valu and picked up two pints of gelato. It is strange that the gelato is in a different location than the ice cream. The store has a freezer case which only contains Palazzolo's gelato.
