FORT LAUDERDALE FOR THE WEEKEND
Heading down to Fort Lauderdale for the weekend with my wife. Coming down from Baltimore. I am interested if you can suggest some dining options for the following categories:
1.) One nice dinner - preferably not a steakhouse. If there is anything with new-american, local cooking that would be fantastic. Otherwise, I'm open for all suggestions.
2.) 3 decent lunch places - these don't need to be nice. In fact we'd prefer hole in the wall casual but with great food. Cuban, mexican, thai, sushi, etc.. We will choose one of these for dinner too.
Thank you for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
3030 Marriott Harbor Beach is great for seafood; the Chef was a James Beard nominee this past year or Jonnny V’s on Las Olas
Le Tube is a nice “hole in the wall” on the water
Agree ...Tarks in Dania
Kings Head pub serves up some great fish and chips (Dania also)
Young’s Circle - Hollywood - Sushi Blues - Young’s circle is cool little area filled with great restaurants and shops - almost like Las Olas, but not as posh
South Port Raw Bar off 17th street causeway (great raw clams)
Quaterdeck "Big Daddy's" across the street - never had a bad meal at any Big Daddy's!
Cafe Maxx would be great for dinner.
Tark's in Dania is a great hole in the wall seafood place. It's not spotless and you sit at the counter, but they use a ton of fresh seafood. Gotta be careful, though, cause some stuff is prepackaged. If you order fried shrimp, its already done. If you order buffalo shrimp they are fresh and battered. Clam strips are brought in, but clam bellies are breaded in house.
