Hi
I am new to the board and also new to MD.
Moved here last week.
I am originally from Charleston SC and grew up eating
boiled peanuts.
Does anyone know of any location where I can purchase Green Peanuts or Boiled Peanuts in MD?????
They don't have to be boiled. I like to cook them myself. I live in Damascus MD

Only the canned ones which aren't too bad if you're far removed (in terms of time) from having them in the south. If you find a source to cook, I'd be interested in that source and how to do them right myself.

I don't know where you live dre22era, but Frank's Produce in Elkridge, MD has canned boiled peanuts if you are interested. He used to have green peanuts but not sure if he still does.

I have asked some wholesale nut suppliers but they do not usually carry them. I have obtained them from (get this)
      http://www.boiledpeanuts.com/

Good luck. I will say that they don't taste as good made at home as they do from a 55 gallon drum at a fillin' station that is hygienically questionable...

The sell raw peanuts at the Allgreen Asian supermarket in Glen Burnie, so you might want to check out an Asian supermarket if you have any nearby,

Yes you can find them here. I saw at least 4 vendors with green peanuts at the DC Farmers Market about a month ago, so that seems like a good bet. It's an indoor food hall at 1309 5th St NE in DC.

i love boiled peanuts http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/430248 , but i don't know how anyone can have fresh green peanuts at this time of the year -- harvests *start* in september.

even when harvest starts, i think the OP has to go online, because as much as i've looked for boiled peanuts -- even in s. va. where they grow peanuts -- i haven't found roadside boiled peanuts. i haven't even found green peanuts to boil up.

the ONLY decent boiled peanuts in a can are the winn-dixie brand, from the s.e. u.s., and they ain't here.

Thanks for the quick reply. sorry I haven't been on here in a few stays. still getting settled in regards to moving here. I did find a older thread on here about peanuts and went to a place place in Rockville MD called A&J. I think that's the name. It turned out to be a Asian Restaurant that sold peanuts. It turned out their boiled peanuts were actually already picked from the shells. Very odd and didn't seem right. I bought 2 cups worth which are currently in my fridge. Tried it and didn't like it. While I was in Rockville I did go to a nearby Asian market but they didn't have any peanuts.
