A new Jazzy Breakfast Place in the Harrisburg Area??
I am originally from NJ and Michigan. I am used to jazzy breakfast places that are awesome like www.theflytrapferndale.com
I live in Carlisle. It isn't far from Harrisburg, PA. I can not for the life of me find an awesome breakfast place. I don't want a down-home country cookin breakfast. I have been to fays (buzzer rings saying NO). I need a place that I can get a breakfast w/spunk. on the weekend that is fun and different. Don't suggest a diner w/bacon and eggs either. PLEASE HELP ME
Central PA Susquehanna Valley is different from Delaware Valley of suburban Philly, NJ and Center City Phila. The closest I have seen to moving here is going to a Sunday brunch at a hotel such as the Hotel Hershey or the Hilton in Harrisburg. I am sure Carlisle has at least one equivalent hotel as they have various car shows throughout the summer months.
I would say to find a restaurant where you get to know the owners and then customize what they offer to suit your tastes. We frequent the Summerdale Diner in Enola. They can make anything we ask. They have another restaurant, The Grille of Hamden, which is a little more upscale but again, they can make most anything that you ask. For a change a pace, there is the Peachtree Restaurant in a strip mall off of Progress Avenue in Harrisburg, that offers some breakfast's called the Pearls of the Peachtree. As for the fun and different, you are going to have to help make that happen with whoever you bring to accompany you on your excursion.

OK, well you're not going to find anything like that in Carlisle. It's eggs, pancakes, and meat -- not that there's anything wrong with that. I, for one, love the Hamilton. However, if you're looking for something a little different, head over to Mangia Qui in Harrisburg. Haven't tried it myself but have heard good things about the brunch. Here's a link, http://www.mangiaqui.com/index.php?op.... Report back with your experience. I'd be interested in hearing how things go.
