So Long, Mifune
Mifune in Arlington has shut its doors. I never got there in the 2+ years it was in business (perhaps because several people told me it was only so-so, but also because I really missed Viets Cafe, which has been in there previously).
Looks like a new place run by the Sato 2 people in Stoneham will be opening in its spot pretty soon.

i used to go to sato2 in stoneham when they first opened. the backstory of that place is that the owner had a v. good Japanese sushi chef , so he opened Sato to showcase him. problem was that the chef decided fairly soon after the opening- to return to japan. unfortunately, the 'chefs' who followed were non-japanese boys who didn't even know what gobo was, and couldn't make good rice. So I stopped going. Besides, i discovered Sushi Island, the nearby Wakefield restaurant w/ one of the best sushi chefs in Boston (who had been at Takeshima in Coolidge Corner for years). It's another 6 minutes drive for me and the comparison is laughable. Which is all to say, don't have great expectations for Sato places; however, if a very good sushi chef is on board there, that would be a wonderful surprise.
