Fig & Olive 62 and Lex - Food is good, service and space is not.

The title pretty much sums it up. The food was very good, especially the soup/crostini combos. The space however looks tired and the service for a not too busy afternoon was really lacking. Additionally, the cocktail selection was extremely limited and took none of the menu into consideration. Maybe we'll try another location but we won't be heading back to this one.

  1. The Fig and Olive on 10 East 52nd Street is a beautiful space with excellent food. A little pricey for lunch but a very nice place to enjoy

I enjoy the 52nd Street Fig and Olive for lunch when I have time to get out of the office, delivery, and also catering for office meetings. Never had anything elaborate there, but the crostini, salads and soups are a cut above most of the midtown soup/salad places because they are fresh and clean tasting. That's not high high praise, except if compared to the other soupy/salady/sandwichy places in the area.

I wouldn't think of it as destination dining, but maybe it can be.

    2. I have only been once but honestly thought the place completed over-rated and overpriced for what it is. Never had the desire to return.

      1. I for one, like the space on lex in the 60's. The cocktail list is small because they only have a wine and beer license. I notice when I frequent however, it's not that service is lacking, it's thats it's spread out and geared towards the UES people who want to sit and take their time/conversation. For quicker, faster in and outs. Try their midtown location.

I completely disagree. I know the difference between leisurely pace and a lackadaisical attitude. I enjoy the former, hate the latter.

        2. I like the 52nd place, But service and food at their lex spot has definetly improved as of late. We went there in Jan. and they were out of some wines and service was pretty spotty. We've been back recently, cocktails are decent for not being able to serve well spirits and service has DEFINETLY improved. Once you get over the fact that it's a local relaxed spot and not an in and out get away, you'll enjoy it more. we've had some great experiences recently.
