There is a woman who sells tamales outside of Our Lady of Guadalupe church on 14th St. Nearby, the El Idolo truck sells tamales, though I haven't had them.

Tamales at the El Idolo truck are copiously filled (so great if you like that style), but the masa is very soggy. They're only $1.50, though, and I think better than the tamales at Sobre Ruedas.
[OTOH, the Sobre Ruedas truck on 14th and 7th does much better (more tender and juicier) chivo tacos and better spiced tacos con carne enchilada.]
Do you know when the Our Lady of Guadalupe tamale vendor is at that location? How are they?

It has been a while, but there are only two times I am ever by Our Lady of Guadulupe: late Saturday afternoons (though I don't think I've always seen her then) or on holidays. Perhaps the next Marian Feast on Dec. 8 might be a surer time to try the tamales.

I'll just walk by Our Lady of Guadalupe periodically to check. It's not far from the Greenmarket.
BTW, I think I have to take back what I said about the tamales at El Idolo being categorically soggy. The other night, the SO picked up a really nicely made one with green chilis and cheese filling. The masa had distinct grains and was a lot fluffier than the first one we tried. (Also, I didn't realize this, but evidently certain types of tamales -- Colombian ones? -- are supposed to be on the soggier side... Still not my style, but I guess others might like it.) Will keep 'researching'. :)
