Eating my way down Dorchester Ave

I'm taking more time to explore the chow around my work location in Milton. Between say, Adams St/Lower Mills down Dorchester Ave to Columbia, what's not to miss? I saw lots of Vietnamese and old Irish Dorchester-type places, and wonder where to start?

I'm not exactly sure where to start, but I would recommend Shanti for Indian toward the end of your journey (Dot Ave @ Savin Hill Ave).

You beat me to it. I was just going to say the Shanti. Be sure and sign-up for their e-mail specials. They just sent me a $20 off coupon for a Happy Birthday dinner, and I routinely get 20% off coupons during the year.

Not always quick in the way take out food generally is but there's a place called Boston Fish Market across from Fields Corner T Stop that sells fresh fish and to go orders. There are a couple of tiny tables in there but I've never seen anyone eating at them; just waiting for their order.

I have only tried the fried clams with bellies which I thought were really good and they make a really, really good french fry. They also serve broiled, baked and maybe a few other styles but fried, come on, who can resist that. Meal also comes with a tiny portion of cole slaw.
