Interesting to see if the value/quality level is better or more attractive in DC than Bmore.

Not quite yet. They're planning an October launch, and will be open late, maybe til 11 PM.
All from scratch, made by hand, no machines. All fresh - no frozen or canned anything.
Like a crack house, for sure.

Maybe they'll set up at the H Street Festival next month so we can get some preview samples???

when is the H St Festival?

Also, I've always thought their pies were very good, and they serve excellent coffee. I've never bought a whole pie, only had a few slices here and there, and enjoyed it very much - and found the staff interested in chatting about flavor combos

The H Street Festival is September 19.
It's gonna be terrific this year. Gallery O on H is hosting at least 15 Art Cars like the ones that were recently at ArtScape in Baltimore. There were only about 5 at the H Street Festival last year and were such a hit that more are coming this year. Several shown in this website will be coming http://www.artcaragency.com/index.html
Lots of great food besides Dangerously Delicious Pies. All the restaurants, like H Street Country Club and Granville Moore's will be open with regular menus, plus they'll all have special patios outside with special limited menu service. Smokey's doing his BBQ again plus lots more.
Terrific music on two stages, in addition to the regular venues. The kickoff for DC Fashion Week, plus a Tattoo Contest, with the help of British Ink, and a Fantasy Hairstyling show.
The entire community gets involved in the Festival so it should be really fun.

ah, if it were more convenient to get there, I'd love to visit those restaurants outside of a festival for the first visit....but I WOULD travel there for some pie :)

There's a neat little shuttle bus from Chinatown and Union Station that runs from about 5 PM until the Metro closes. It runs very frequently. And lots of cabs. They were just pouring in when I was up there last Saturday night. I think most people use those so they don't have to worry about drinking and driving.
I'm almost scared that it's TOO easy to get to the new pie shop. I spend enough time already at SOVA. Great coffee.

I think the shuttle is going to run all day for the Festival. Somebody said it was going to loop up to U Street too, but I'll have to check and report back.

Please report back when you all have had a chance to try some of the pie. Reviews from folks here in Baltimore are very mixed. (Full disclosure, the most charitable thing I, personally, can say about the pie is that it's uneven. I had a piece of peach pie once that was very good -- though still not phenomenal -- a piece of chocolate pecan pie that was abysmal, and a piece of apple pie that was "eh." Considering the high price tag, I haven't been inclined to try a fourth time.)

Is there a link for the festival? I'm not finding anything but would like to find out more.

The H Street Main Street web site still has stuff about last year's festival.

One of the organizers of this years' Festival told me that they were hoping to get a website up this week.

Dangerously Delicious Pies is going to be at the H Street Festival next Saturday!
They be selling, plus giving out free samples on the Urban Arts block - 1300 block of H.
          http://www.hstreetfestival2009.org/hf...
That's the same block with the big concert stage programmed by Rock and Roll Hotel which will also have a DJ inside all day. The music will not stop.
Baby Loves Disco is also there for your little kids.
H St Country Club is open with regular menu and outdoor seating. Pinatas for kids in the alley next to their place, and a mini-golf tournament inside.

They were also at the JFX farmer's market this morning. I'm with charmedgirl though -- not really impressed with what I've had.

They used to serve them at Austin Grill in Silver Spring for a while. I was underwhelmed.
