As much as we love Marche moderne and have eaten there more than any other restaurant, their service is really bad . The past few times, the service has put a bad taste in our mouth. They usually hire clueless people and even the managment is not that great. In on case they have left a piece of parchment paper in my dessert and when I showed it to one of the ladies(manger) she just took it away and after a few minutes brought me a new one without saying a word. I love their food, but service is part of the whole experience and they should learn from places like Le Saint Amore in Culver city.

Tried it. Loved it.
Food and service were top-notch. The big eye tuna crudo with yuzu-mirin and sake gelée started us off and was melt-in-your-mouth amazing. Heirloom tomato salad with burrata and garlic/shallot/parsley was next...very summery and very very good. Main course was braised veal cheek with zucchini/parmesan/basil risotto. This rocked. Roasted halibut was very good as well...perfectly cooked. Dessert was an apricot/pistachio financier (like a tea cake) and crème fraîche ice cream. Perfect.
What made our dinner even more enjoyable and memorable was the service. Our waiter arranged for and chose 3-ounce wine pairings with every course, and every one was spot on. Dude should be a sommelier. Absolutely enhanced the food and took the entire meal to another level.
One of the best meals I've had in a long time.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but, I believe that it's $20 on week days and $25 on weekends.
We've really enjoyed it twice on the weekend, once with a wine pairing and once without. Call in advance and reserve the patio.
They are also currently running a 4 course for $40 dinner special thru the 9th of this month.

JAB- The Spontanee Lunch is sometimes $20 and sometimes $25.I was just there this past Sunday and it was $20. I guess it all depends on what's on the menu for that day. I think the majority of the time it is $20 though. Good idea to call ahead if you don't want to spend that extra $5.
This past Sunday we had a salad with boston lettuce, endive, peaches, avocado, pine nuts with an agridulce vinaigrette. For mains we had a choice of skirt steak, with braised young swiss chard, truffled pomme puree, carmelized onions with a peppercorn jus or a pan sauteed Alaskan Halibut or Sol with asparagus, heirloom tomatoes, pistou, and an arugula salad. For desert had a dark chocolate mousse with a banana caramel financier. Everyone enjoyed everything!!

I have had Marche Moderne's Spontanee $20 lunch on multiple occasions. Have had great meals every single time. In my opinion a good deal considering the food, service, and ambiance. Just went this this past weekend as a matter of fact.
Here is a link to my blog. Click on the Marche Moderne link on the right to take a look at what we ate on one particular visit. Will be posting another one in a week or so.
