I AM NEW TO EVANSTON AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW OF ANY GOOD BUTCHER SHOPS.

I WAS TOLD OF AN E&M FANCY FOODS IN EVANSTON SOMEWHERE ON CHURCH STREET, BUT IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE ON CHURCH STREET PLEASE TELL ME!! I HEAR IT IS PRETTY CHEAP. THEY SELL HOME MADE SOUPS AND SOME GREAT DEMI GLAZE. THEIR USED TO BE AN E&M FANCY FOODS IN SKOKIE ON DEMPSTER, BUT IT MOVED TO EVANSTON ON CHURCH STREET AND ..???

Zier's and Jerry's are both quite good. I'd add Al's in downtown Wilmette, just east of the train station. They've got a good selection of meats, including dry-aged steaks, as well as one of my favorite delicacies, scrapple.

Jerry's Quality Meats in Skokie on Dempster is a great butcher shop. They should have everything you want.

Jerry's is what used to be E&M on Dempster. (Jerry was one of the butchers at E&M(. It's my go-to place. Great meat and great service.

I'll second Jerry's. Great quality and Jerry will really take care of you. Probably the best skirt steaks you'll find anywhere. For a real treat try the skirt steak burgers when they offer them. You'll find them in the freezer case.

Yup. Zier's is my go-to place for the very best meats in the area. You can get a standing prime rib (prime grade) that beats the quality of the best restaurants. Great steaks, etc. They do their own smoking of meats, and they have various cuts of game in the freezer. They get busy right before holidays, when it pays to call ahead.

Zier's is about 3/4 mile north of the CVS pharmacy at Central and Crawford in Evanston.
