  1. Definitely. Probably nothing we can do to change Van's mind at this point, but at least help the restaurant go out with a bang. If you've never been, you only have a couple of months to experience what I think is Dallas' best restaurant.

Huge loss for the Dallas dining scene. Best Wine list in town with great cooking. Sad.

We live in Louisiana ans as such are used to good food. A lot of the Dallas restaurants we went to were overrated. However, Lola was definitely not in that category. We went to the main restaurant twice and the tasting room once in our once a year trip to DFW. I know I will miss it. The food was always good and the service fantastic.
The first time I went ther they were out of the wine I had picked. Our server got us a better bottle and charged us the same price as my original order. That's the sign of a first class operation. I will miss it and it is a shame that Dallas could not support it .

    2. I went to the tasting room Saturday night. I'd made reservations before the closing announcement and before the less than stellar review in Friday's paper. The food and service were spot on. I didn't have the wine parings, but the pours appeared to be quite generous (an issue in the review.) While the main dining room appeared to be packed, the tasting room was only half full. The only off aspect of the experience was the notion in the back of my mind that this would soon be gone. Such a pity.

      1. I think Van is to be commended for giving ample notice of the closing so his employees can make plans for their next jobs. And also so that we can all get our last meals in. He's a class act all the way around. Lola will be greatly missed.

Agreed and yes indeed. In the past few weeks I have been directing all my contacts for the 'last supper'

Yes, I'm going to wait a bit and then enjoy one last great meal there. So sad.
