Wakefield (Gatineau)
I've never been, but I'll be nearby in a couple of weeks. These are the places I've read about or heard about, but the question is, which ones are really worth visiting:
Chez Eric
Cafe Molo
Kaffe 1870
Pipolinka
Aplengruss
Bistro Aux Mille Délices
Soupcon
General Store (for Cuban sandwiches?)

Chez Eric is okay. Ate there about 3 weeks ago. Nothing spectacular.
Cafe Pot au Feu was disappointing the last few times I was there, about a year ago.
I have not tried the others, but would go to Les Fougeres in Chelsea, a few miles away. The food is always good there.

re: souschef
My wife and I went to Les Fougeres last weekend, and tried their 15th Anniversary Tasting Menu. The first course duck plate was just okay. The seafood course was quite tasty, apart from some characterless mussels. The rest of the courses all seemed to be very strong-tasting and unpleasant, the worst being the sweetbreads. The bison was on the tough side. A disappointment, especially considering that we used to really like the place.
