Need a restaurant (or two) near Disneyland, within walking distance

  • b

Hi all,

Will be doing our disneyland trip with kids, but we won't have a car. Staying at Alpine Inn, right next to disneyland, at the corner of W Katella and S Harbor
Any suggestions for a decent family friendly dinner within walking distance?

I found this old thread:
http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/57308

But all the restaurants mentioned here are kinda outside walking distance range.

Thanks in advance.!

  1. Sorry, in case I was not clear. I was looking for a suggestion *OUTSIDE* disneyland, but within walking distance (this is for dinner on the night we are arriving)

There is a Mimi's cafe on Harbor right before the freeway. It will be a bit of walk up harbor, but not too far beyond the entrance plaza to Disneyland on Harbor. Its a chain, but it is family friendly
There is also a Tiffy's at the corner of Katella and Disneyland Drive, its been years since I last visited there, as most of my dinning is done in Disneyland or Downtown Disney. I remember the food being above average for a resort area and reasonable.
I would also recommend Downtown Disney as in the other thread. Not sure if you consider that outside disneyland, but it is close and there are several places to consider. Rainforest cafe is always fun, and ESPN zone can be fun as well.
      Good luck!

      1. Your best bet, if you're on a budget, will be Marri's Italian (corner Walnut and Katella) or Mimi's (corner Manchester and Harbor). Still walking distance but very expensive would be Ruth's Chris and Morton's.

There is also the Anaheim Gardenwalk and its chainliciousness -- Bubba Gump Shrimp Company (ugh), Roy's (spendy), McCormick & Schmick's (spendy but not as bad as Roy's), P. F. Chang's China Bistro, the Texas Cheesecake Depository, CPK and Bar Louie. Walk straight west on Katella and it's before the corner of Clementine.

Honestly, if you didn't want Marri's, I'd take the ART bus (Anaheim Resort Transit) or OCTA #43 bus down Harbor and go to Oggi's just south of Harbor and Chapman in the city of Garden Grove. You can wander over to Joe's Italian Ice (down Harbor about a quarter mile on the other side, a little shack) and get Italian ice and ice cream.

I'd go with Marri's...its been dishing out great pizza for over 30 years.

McCormick & Schmick's has an affordable Happy Hour menu that varies by location: http://www.mccormickandschmicks.com/a...

I think the happy hour items are served in the bar, not sure that kids can eat there.

              I'd probably do Mimi's.

              Check their website for coupons.

Kids can be at the tables in the bar area, but not actually at the bar. I have taken my little daughter there. :)

Thanks everybody for the suggestions, its likely going to be Marri's.

If you do go to Marri's, here's some historical trivia. In the late 60's it truly was a "hole in the wall." It was about 1/3 its current size, the "booths" were a step up from the floor and the tables were hung from the ceiling by chains. They swayed so you had to be careful with your (illegal) beers. The salt, pepper and red peper flakes were housed in a hole gouged out of the wall for each table. They provided crayons so that you could autograph (or enter other graffiti) on the walls. Back then it was a major hang-out for Park employees, but now it is too respectable and family oriented and I'm sure that the troops have moved elsewhere. Still, whenever I'm driving from OC to LA I'll stop and pick up a pizza for dinner.

            3. Another vote for Marri's....
They will also deliver to area hotels.
