Breakfast Places in New Haven Area

Any suggestions for good breakfast places in New Haven Area? Have been to Bella's in Westville, Cranberries in Branford, The Pantry and Atticus in New Haven, Scotty's in North Haven (also the Breakfast Nook- which I was NOT impressed by), Abbott and Cosello (sp?) in Wallingford. Are there other hidden gems I haven't discovered?

Seconding ME N U on State - they have a delicious breakfast. Also, Lena's in Westville...both of these places are absolutely great.

If you've been to Abbott and Cassello's in Wallingford, you should check our Rick's on 5--great breakfast, but always a line on the weekends since its such a small place.

Though they do not open until 11:00 so it may be more of a brunch Katz's Deli in Woodbridge makes very good omelets Corned beef, Pastrami, Lox etc

I'll second Anna Liffey's.
In addition, a few of the diners around do a very good breakfast. My favorite is the Kimberly Diner in Milford on the Post Road.
The Valley Diner in Derby, but right by the Orange border, on 34, is also pretty good.
The Parthenon Diner in Branford has a great reputation. I've never had breakfast there, and haven't been impressed by the lunch items I've had. Breakfast might be a lot better though.

In Branford, Meadow Muffins (201 Meadow Street) has a wonderful breakfast menu. Great blueberry pancakes, omelets, etc. Very busy on weekends, but really worth the wait.

Forgot to add, for a traditional Irish breakfast - Anna Liffey's in New Haven cannot be beat- Irish sausages, bacon, saute mushrooms, grilled tomato, fries, eggs and even black pudding for those who can handle it!

La Cuisine sounds yummy!! THANKS. Hopefully, it's not as overpriced as their catering offerings are :-) Don't enjoy the ambience of Anna Liffey's so I probably wouldn't venture there for breakfast either but I am sure others will benefit for your suggestion.

if you are driving as far as Branford I love the Waiting Station on the Green. Sometimes service is slow on the weekends but they're omelets cannot be beat. They are not the cheapest place around but the portions and quality are great.

A surprising one, La Cuisine- the Branford caterers have a clean and pleasant cafe onsite (a little past the Chowder Pot on the left hand side, looks a little industrial from the outside). Fresh squeezed orange juice, Willoughby's coffee, farm fresh eggs, a really decent quality bacon, saute potatoes as home fries, three kinds of bread for toast, served with sweet cream butter and various pancakes, waffles (my husband thought the pumpkin ones last fall were divine) and a selection of omelettes etc.

On your way out, you can pick up in-house baked croissants, breads, danish for breakfast the next day, or goodies for supper!
