Looking for trendy or amazing food!

2 Roadtrippers from Philly coming to the City for the day to enjoy a matinee.

Looking for your best suggestions for a great eating experience. Since it will be late afternoon when we eat, I'm thinking that fine dining is not the best option. Price is not a huge consideration, but we would like to have amazing experience! Also, anywhere within taxi distance from the Theater District is okay.

Thanks in advance.
Karen

There are many places that are open late afternoon/early evening, especially on the weekends. Even if price is not a huge consideration, what is the most you are willing to spend (I assume not Per Se or Masa prices)? Are you adventurous eaters? Picky? Do you like seafood? Or red meat more? Any preferred cuisines? What kinds of places do you love in Philly (so we can recommend similar)? Have you been to NYC before? If so, where did you dine and what did you think?

Also, NYC taxis are legally obligated to take you anywhere in the 5 boroughs of NYC so literally all of the city is "within taxi distance."
