Does anyone know a good place downtown to get a beer with your lunch? Hopefully somewhere near the central library? My co-workers and I thank you for your efforts in this regard.

There's a brewery restaurant at the Omni (outside on the lower level roof). Never been wild about the food there, but it's okay, and the location is right.

The Bonaventure Brewing Company in the Bonavenutre hotel is very good. (404 S. Figueroa St. Ste. #418A). They have a good selection of beers and a good lunch menu. There is also an outside patio that is quite nice on sunny days like today. http://www.bonaventurebrewingco.com/

Ciudad at 5th and Fig serves beer. Food is pretty good, but service can be slow. Cafe Pinot is right at the library and I'm guessing you can get a good beer there.
Pete's sat 4th and Main has a good bar and burger. Redwood on 2nd between Hill and Broadway. Very dark and surprisingly decent grub. Beer flows there too.

Only a block away is Casey's Irish Bar & Grill (Grand, just s of 6th) -- just what the Doctor ordered for stir-crazy librarians. Decent burgers & sandwiches in a very casual old-boys bar atmosphere. & the beer is very cold.

Good call! The food is decent, but the servers and managers are friendly, and the vibe is laid back.

They also open fairly early...not that I've been in there drinking at 9am...if any one asks.
