"Real" Pistachio Ice Cream in Westchester or Surrounding?

My husband and I had -- only once so far this lifetime -- an incredible, pure pistachio ice cream at John's Ice Cream in Maine. Not the green-tinted, almond paste-based goo that's usually served and called "pistachio," but a lovely tan ice cream filled with crushed pistachios. It was an incredible balance of salty and sweet, and tasted like nothing but pistachios. Definitely high on the fat and calorie counts, but insanely decadent and worth the once-in-a-while treat.

Anyone know if real pistachio ice cream is available anywhere in Westchester?

it's green tinted... and on a stick... but still worth it.. the pistachio paletas at Paleteria Fernandez are awesome.

Oooh... I forgot about those. ANYTHING at Paleteria Fernandez is incredible! We stock up on $50 worth of pops at a time. One would think they'd last a while but they're gone in a flash. Their paletas and ice creams are amazing!!!

$50 at a time? I'd like to raid your freezer.

Yeah, it's a bit over the top, but my family can't get enough of those pops! We try to limit them to dessert after dinner. And as they're homemade with fresh ingredients, I feel better about spending a bit more on them rather than giving my family brands with a bunch of artificial junk in them.

Bask and Robbins is not green and has tons of chopped pistashio nuts running through it and so does ben and jerrys.

If you mean Baskin Robbins, their "Pistachio" is actually called "Pistachio Almond" and doesn't have any Pistachios in it at all:

Ben and Jerry's is pretty good. No dye and full of pistachios.

I like Longford's Pistacchio ice cream - we go to the shop in Old Greenwich. I think there is one in Rye too
