Dei Neri or Grom: Best Gelaterie in Firenze

roxlet Aug 2, 2009 01:03 PM

It's down to Gelateria Dei Neri or Grom as the best gelato we've had in Firenze. The wild berry and the pear that I had at Neri were indescribable, but I was so upset to realize that I hadn't seen the fig and ricotta or the cannoli ice cream before I made my choice. I may have to go back for those. At Grom I had the raspberry and the apricot, which were both incredibly delicious. My son has been doing more of a vertical tasting of nocciola and extra dark chocolate at both places. He liked the dark chocolate at Grom because he said it had small pieces of chocolate in it, and he like the nocciola at Neri better because it was a richer flavor. Either way, these two have been the best of the best that we have found in Firenze, and we didn't find anything in Venice to compare to these two places. Must go back for the fig and ricotta!

If you live in the NYC area, there is a Grom on the upper west side, another one on Bleecker. I hope they are as good as in Florence, and i can't wait to go back to Manhattan again.

There is a Grom in Venice, in San Barnaba. I too love the chocolate at Grom. I also like Perche No in Florence.
