My family and I had dinner there last night and although the food was great (had the kurobuta pork chop) the service is lacking. It took a while for the server to come to our table. I ordered a cocktail which seemed to have been forgotten. My husband had to inquire about it. When it finally arrived I picked it up to drink it (vodka martini on the rocks) there was some other leftover drink in the glass. That was pretty unappetizing and disgusting. Our food took a long while to arrive and the restaurant was NOT busy. It took so long that our server even acknowledged the wait and apologized. Bottom line is that the food is great but don't have high (or any for that matter) expectations on service.

K-Man, you and I are great minds that think alike! Letting the mgmt. know would be next in order.

I've never had a bad meal or bad service there however I have felt for quite some time that
the room needs an overhaul it is tired and sad looking with bad carpeting and worn menus.
I've always liked the pineapple martini's too, just vodka and pineapple!

I've sometimes wondered if the decisions about when to renovate are left to Macy's rather than AW, they might not see the reason to spend money on the cash cow.

When this place is on, the food is just as good as Alan Wongs. Unfortunately, the service will never match the flagship restaurant.

Well, sad to say, service at Alan Wong's isn't much to match. At those prices, and with the reputation, I expect and hope for a lot more than the hurried *hi there* service we had the last couple of visits, not to mention the always-present 20-30 minute wait at the bar despite a reservation made well in advance.

Your experience runs counter to ours. The service (food and wine) at AW's has always been right on, and we are very tough graders.

We have never waited more than 3-5 mins., and have had reservations - mostly for the "chef's counter."

Since they opened, we have never been disappointed, even slightly.

On every visit, we have been treated like o`hana, and everything has been perfect, whether dining early with some older family members, or later, just the two of us.

Sorry that your experience was less than stellar.

Now, to the Pineapple Room, the subject of the post, we had an OK meal there, though it was early in its history. It did fall behind King St., and I commented in detail to the corp. office. The other two visits were for events, so they do not count.

It's been awhile since my last visit, perhaps last year, and I see that things have not changed. I do like the food at Pineapple Room, but I am turned off by the chairs, carpet and the lack of service. There isn't anything there I have to have when the ambience is totally lacking

I was out of town but they just had a benefit that was also to show off the newly redone decor
service was never a problem in my case. I do like the food. I am thankful they've redone the
menu covers it was so icky touching them and holding them to read ;-(
