What happened to Brown's Lobster Pound in Seabrook?

My friends and I have been enjoying Brown's Lobster Pound in Seabrook, NH, for close to 50 years now. I get back as often as I can, at least once a year, and have steamers, lobster, and onion rings. I was there twice this year. In April, the lobster had a band on it indicating it was from Canada. It definitely was not as good as the lobster I used to have at Brown's. I returned again last week, July 2009. This time, I requested a Maine lobster. The first one they got out for me said Canada. Then, they got me another one that had a band that said nothing on it. I am not sure where that lobster was from, but it was not very good. It was not sweet like a Maine lobster and was rather tough. So, after 50 years, Brown's has disappointed me twice in a row. Do they have a new lobster supplier? Has anything else changed there? We were able to get wonderful lobsters in southern Maine, so I know they were available.

  1. Well I went to Browns on Friday night. Celebrating my birthday and I wanted something tasty and simple. I was very dissapointed that you could not make minor changes in their fried seafood platter, the price was over the top expensive and when the food arrived.... it was cool. I don't know what all the hoopla is about this place and really cannot believe this place is showcased on the food network. I can think of 20 fried food places that are much better than Browns. I might try Markey's but after reading some of these posts... I'll stick to my off the beaten path restaurants that server good fresh fried seafood.

And those "off the beaten path restaurants that serve good fresh fried seafood" would be?
