My son is out in San Fran and was excited to tell me that he had a Banh Mi for lunch this past week made with pate....I don't remember the establishment where he purchased it...but lo and behold! That is very authentic according to this audio story (towards the 4:00 mark) He LOVED that sandwich and said it was only $4.00.
