Group Dinner in St. Paul, MN
We are attending a wedding in St. Paul in two weeks. On Friday night our group of friends would like to have a group dinner before joining the bride and groom at a welcome party at the Liffey. We expect that our dinner group will be 7. We're looking for good, reasonably priced fare with a great atmosphere. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
Brasa on grand has a large round table with a lazy susan in the middle, and if the family style service would be okay with your group the food and service are first-rate and the prices are fairly reasonable, especially for locally sourced meats and veggies. you dont mention vegetarians but if there are some you may want them to have a look at the menu before committing, but if they are open to making a meal of the sides (and damn those sides are good) i think it would be a great fit.

the st paul brasa is a great rec for a family style meal. also check out meritage, which is great (french style) food, beautiful atmosphere, good price for what you get. it would also be very convenient to getting to the liffey afterward.

sk's spot on as usual - Meritage would probably be a tich more money than Brasa but the location is a lot more conducive to strolling over to the liffy. its probably the only walkable option i would endorse, and id give it a strong endorsement, as i think they do a really great job.
take a peek at both menus and see which one would work for you - the brasa on grand would be about a 10 dollar/5 minute cab ride down the hill into downtown.

2 other options that are also close to the liffey are Il Veso Vino and The Downtowner Woodfire Grill.
But you can't go wrong with either Mertiage or Brasa! Both excellent choices.

The Strip Club would be another option not far from downtown. Depends on what kind of price you're looking for...

Another place to consider is Tanpopo, if by "great atmosphere" you mean somewhat peaceful, rathe than rowdy. http://tanpoporestaurant.com/
