Crabcakes in MSP

Where would folks find their favorite crabcakes in MSP? Seasalt's are among my favorites, though I haven't had Oceanaire's.

  1. jfood had oceanaire's a couple of weeks ago. nicely done. if jfood ever returns to oceanaire he would order the west coast oysters the crab cake and the fish stew. those seemed to be the winners.

I also love the Oceanaire crab cakes. If you ask at the coat check, they'll give you the recipe!

    2. Coastal's imperial crab cakes are quite good. Just enough binder to bring them together.

      1. I like the crab cakes at the St. Paul Grille. Very minimal filler. Served over wilted spinach and a nice lemony orange aoli. They list it as a starter - it's enough for a light meal.

Chowhubby's favorite is Nicollet Island Inn.

If you're ever looking to have some at home and don't want to make them (I can't b/c I'm allergic), head to Coastal and get the Imperial or Superior, it's called. They have their regular house made one and then another one called the Imperial or Superior-chowhubby thinks those are also extremely good.

I second the rec for Coastal Seafood's crabcakes--premade, that you can heat up at home. Thanks to St. Paul Susie for tipping me to that!

              No problem!

              Priced right too....

Pick up some salmon salad next time you are there. Great summer quick meal over greens or in a lettuce wrap or on crackers.

        2. My favorite is the Crab Cakes Benedict at Longfellow Grill (and probably her sister restaurants.) While they may not be the best crab cakes around, they are addicting when paired with the benedict dressings.
