Colterra - Niwot CO
Wow, I am remiss in getting up this review. After reading several mentions of this restaurant here I finally treated myself to a trip there in mid June (see told you I've been remiss!). Actually, my lovely friend surprised me by calling ahead and treating me to lunch there to celebrate my new job.
It was a lovely day out so I sat on their beautiful patio next to the garden. I was alone but the peaceful surrounding was so soothing after a very challenging month (had been laid off) that it was a perfect way to enjoy the meal. I started with a limontini and asparagus soup (made with asparagus from their own garden) which was velvety smooth and was perfectly seasoned although simply. Next up was the seared tuna with beet risotto cake. The tuna was done just right and the beet risotto cake had a wonderfully crunchy crust with a nice toothesome bite on the interior. I finished with a blackberry-currant creme brulee that was simply divine. Possibly one of the best creme brulees I've ever enjoyed and I do love a good, crunchy brulee.
The service was perfectly present yet invisible, allowing me to enjoy the scenery and garden. The best part of this is that I've now moved to Lafayette so I'm quite close to this hidden gem. I do plan on enjoying a meal there again, hopefully sooner rather than later!
