Cheeseboard Today: grilled peaches

The pizza at Cheeseboard today is grilled peaches with mozzarella and blue cheese with arugula. I've never seen peaches on a pizza there before. It was SENSATIONAL. I can't recommend it highly enough.

  1. Arizmendi occasionally offers something like a fruit pizzetta. Usually with berries, once with sliced strawberries and bananas. It's not their pizza of the day, but it is delicious.

(Not sure about mozzarella with peaches. I'd have stopped at blue cheese.)

I agree with Windy. I tried it, and while the ingredients by themselves were top-notch, that combination of mozzarella, peaches, and grease just didn't work for me. The Arizmendi approach seems more like the way to go.

    2. I had this same pizza last year, at the end of August, and I agree completely. I blew my mind. I am not generally a new-fangled pizza person, but the sweetness of the peaches was perfectly offset by the salty blue cheese and the bite of the arugula. One of the best pizzas I've ever had, in the "modern" category. Here's a snapshot of the one I had last year. Ummmm......Just looking at this is making me hungry. (And I just finished dinner!)

I went yesterday after I saw David's post and it was delicious. I don't think the peach and cheese combo is for everyone, but I thought it was very good - both sweet and salty in one bite.

      2. Just to take it public: David as I mentioned, I didnt find the cheej+peach pizza
super exciting. I though the mushroom and "tomato classic" the served in the last couple of days was better.

        And to make a recommendation:
If you liked peach pizza, I'd suggest cutting up some stone fruit and slathering on some Brillat Saverin Super Fat cheese ... i think it works best if the Brillat is a littler older than totally fresh and starts to get a little salty.

Still meaning to try those Saul Sodas.

... or go to one of the Brazilian joints that sells peach dessert pizzas. I think Nino's is one, but I haven't tried it yet anywhere.
