Downtown Richmond VA

Going to Richmond in September to do the Richard Petty Driving Experience (my wife's birthday present - even though she can barely drive a stick). We're staying just one night at the Marriott downtown. What are some recommendations for great food for dinner? Would prefer business casual or casual - price not an issue. Prefer walking distance but we can drive if necessary.

Thoughts on 1 North Belmont, Lemaire, Millie, Can Can?

the new lemaire is supposedly lovely. (and who doesn't love being at the jefferson?) i'm a fan of comfort downtown. sensi isn't too far and walking shockoe bottom on a weekend (if that's when you're there) is kind of fun. i've heard good things about millie's but i still haven't been.

http://richmondfoodforthought.blogspot.com/ - most recent post is about lemaire. NOT my blog but i don't think janet will mind my sharing

cancan and 1 north belmont are not that close and for one night i'd say you can do better.

Can someone give me an idea what's on Millie's menu? What's really good?

Also, no reservation for a party of 2 regardless of time, is that correct?

I think we'll just drive there directly from DC and have an early dinner.

the steamed little neck clams sounds awesome! The entrees look less exciting but if there are seats available, we're there!

          Correct, no reservations for 2.

Good idea to drive there directly from DC, our favortie time to go is Sunday nite & we usually get there when they open so no wait.

Ask for a table in the back, avoid a table at the entrance where the bar is. When the place gets full and people are waiting the crowd at the bar backs up and it becomes annoying if you are sitting at a table trying to talk & eat.

Thanks for the plug AMFM....I definitely recommend the new Lemaire.....and they take reservations. Even if he decides on Millie's for dinner, I would go to Lemaire for a before dinner cocktail.

Drive to Millies, would not walk at night around the Marriott.
