The braddahs at Wow know their stuff but they didn't review Don Quixote. Yeah okay it's not a restaurant but man it's cheap for good quality. If value-proposition is a factor, well it could be the a contender. (Well it was cheap, not sure any longer.) No glam presentation, just da plastic tub but who can argue with cheap and those buggahs open 24/7.
ETA: cuz just told me it's about $6.50/lb...that's cheap and compared to mainland prices, that's like free.

My favorite place for poke is Tanioka's in Waipahu. However they didn't do so well in this blind tasting.

re: kuwegg57
the wowgrinds link pretty much sums it up. I have also been hearing good things about "fresh catch" in Kaimuki (in the old pizza hut, across city mill), but have not been there myself.

Just back from Oahu and tried Fresh Catch-Was excellent-so much so I ordered a second helping of Ahi poke after consuming a half pint of limu poke w two scoops of rice. And the people there are so nice and happy to serve you. They offered to let you sample whatever you wanted. I did also sample the salmon poke (not the smoked one) and that was a hit! Other place I tried which was just as good was Marukai market across from Ward center next door to where Hailai's used to be. If you are a visitor you need to get day pass from office out front-just show them your out of state i.d. I must say the fresh-never frozen tuna always the way to go-freezing changes the texture enough for me not to like. Can't wait for my next trip at Christmas!!!!!!
