Nickel Diner great downtown food

My brother and I stopped by the Nickel Diner after seeing a show at the Music Center last Friday and we had a great meal. I had the pulled pork sandwich which was great. The pork was tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of tangy barbeque sauce. My bro had the double stuffed chicken, which had a nice mushroom duxelle under the crispy skin. Desert was a fantastic salted peanut choclate cake--quite rich, but not over-sweet like some cakes. One of the owners, Christin, was there and was very personable. I would describe the decor as retro casual. It manages to be hip and laid back at the same time. We had a great night.

Thanks for another good report on the 5¢. It's obviously a welcome addition to the casual downtown dining scene. What time where you there and was there much of a crowd?
