Crab Shacks in South Jersey-Wilmington DE

ptcandy Jul 26, 2009 08:25 AM

Will be staying on the Jersey side of the Twin Bridge. Wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a Chowhound worthy crab shack on the water in this area. Nothing fancy. Just some newsprint or kraft paper as a tablecloth, a roll of paper towels to wipe the succulent juices and innards from my chin and a bucket for the shells. Oh yeah, draft beer a plus.

Wilmington, at least, is not a good place to get crabs. There are a couple of places in Delaware City (Crabby Dick's and Kathy's) and better options if you drive south, such as Woody's in North East (MD) or Sambo's in Leipsic (DE).

The closest crab joint I can think of isn't on the water but meets your other criteria. Try the Howard House in Elkton, MD. Its about 20 minutes from the bridge.

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to travel to get what I want.
