UWS bursting with goodies

  • 1

I almost posted asking for some suggestions near Lincoln Center for yesterday, but figured we'd just head in early and walk around a bit. We got a great spot at a meter on Amsterdam and walked north. I just wanted to comment on what a great foodie spot the triangle from 71st to 78th St. between Amsterdam and Broadway is.

We ended up shopping in Sephora on Broadway since most of the places weren't open until 11, but right next door was both Fatty Crab and The West Branch and both were open at 11 for brunch on Saturday. Had I been alone I would have likely chosen to sit at a table on the sidewalk outside Fatty Crab, but instead we walked over to Amsterdam at 76th and first stopped at Crumb to split a cupcake. Next we had to step off Amsterdam for a few feet to head into Levain and share a cookie. We followed this up by walking a block south on Amsterdam and going into Jacque Torres for a frozen hot chocolate and a wonderful almond croissant. And then finally another block or two south on Amsterdam was Salumeria Rossi where we shared a porchetta sandwich made from their house-made meat.

A few more blocks south and we were back at Lincoln Center still early, so we sat outside across the street and had some pomegranite margaritas at Rosa Mexicana. Life, and the food, was good.

  1. I'm so glad you posted this. Many people on this board write off the entire neighborhood foodwise. There's good food here, if you know where to look.
