Fresca on Fillmore
I had a really good lunch at Fresca, the Peruvian cafe on Fillmore, yesterday. The marinated, grilled shrimp sandwich with a mound of garlic fries was only 10 bucks. The shrimp (6 or 7 good size) were perfectly grilled with a very fresh flavor and texture. The sandwich was dressed with iceberg lettuce, unfortunately pale tomatoes, terrific pickled red onions and a very tasty chili aioli. Tho' good tasting, the chibatta, brushed with a lemon butter, was, after grilling, too hard and too much bread to really the compliment the sandwich. I ended up "decontructing" the sandwich and eating only half the bread.
The skinny, non greasy, garlic fries were really good, with, finally for me, enough garlic and dusted with parsley (I think.) Dipped some of that aioli on the side, just about perfect. I also ordered some extra pickled onions, they were that good. My very good server Tiffany, let me taste the sangria, which was good, but too sweet for my taste, so I went with a glass of the sauvignon blanc from Chile, just right with the meal. The room is very pleasant, airy and comfortable, with butterscotch colored walls, wood table and chairs and a padded banquet along one wall. I havn't tried dinner, but the lunch prices are quite reasonable with most sandwichs $10-12 w/fries or a salad. Lots of other good looking stuff on the menu as well.
There are several good places eat on Fillmore, add Fresca to the list.
Fresca is one of my favorite lunch spots on Fillmore too. The steak salad with cilantro (?) dressing and the steak sandwich are my favorites. They're both great deals around $10

I went to Fresca for dinner for my bridal/bachelorette party.
My very favorite dish was the Papa Rellena, a big potato croquette filled with beef picadillo, I wished I had saved my appetite for more of it since it arrived last and I had to leave some of it uneaten.
The Ribeye Churrasco was also excellent and really nicely cooked and served with delish mashed potatoes.
