ISO Baby-Friendly Dinner Spot in the West Village

Hi All,

We're coming to NYC in August and need to find somewhere in the West Village for dinner with friends and our 15 month old. It should be not too quiet (nowhere even remotely serene) but not too loud, which would freak him out. Gastropubs are usually perfect, but we're open to anything else. Reservations are a must since he's a ticking time bomb that can't handle long waits.

We're only going to be in New York for a couple days before heading up to the Cape, so we'd love to find somewhere amazing. Loved The LIttle Owl last time, but it would probably be too quiet and tiny for us now.

Thanks so much!
Suebee

  1. Wanted to see if there were any last minute recommendations from NYC hounds. We've made reservations at Otto and DBGB. Good choices? Are there any others you can think of? Great food, not too loud, but not too quiet?

    Thanks!

Otto is a little bit loud, but my BIL and his wife have taken their five month old there without any problems. (Their tyke LOVES noise, though. BIL plays in a very loud band.)

Places that strike me as possibly baby friendly include Galanga Thai, Panca (Peruvian), maybe even Jane on a weeknight when it's pretty empty and staff are ultra accommodating. I wouldn't say the food is amazing at any of these places but it is definitely good / far above average.

I wish I had more solid suggestions for you, but I'm not really in the know about baby etiquette. I personally have no problem with them being everywhere and anywhere, especially when well behaved.

    2. I would agree and skip otto....not only is it loud, but with a reservation you could wait up to 45 minutes in the bar area that is so crowded you will be stepping on one another....Rediculous.
