Wells/Ogunquit - with a dog

Morganna Jul 25, 2009 06:47 AM

So we're spending three nights in a dog friendly motel in Wells. This is our first time traveling with a dog together (neither of us has owned a dog for 20 years, we've had this one two months). She's pretty well behaved but not perfect. Everywhere we've eaten in the area before was a sit down and take a while sort of place. I'm just wondering if there are some good places (doesn't have to be outstanding food, though that'd be a bonus) where we can sit outside with our dog, and who won't have a cow if we have her with us, while we eat. Of course fresh lobster will be a goal for me, but they also have to have something other than that for my non-fish/shellfish eating husband.

Just some ideas would be appreciated, thanks.

You will see alot of dogs in Ogunquit. However, I have never seen a dog in any restaurant in Ogunquit. The Village Market and Fancy That, in the center of Ogunquit, have an outdoor seating area where you can eat food you bought there. I think you can probably bring you dog there.

Charlie Bennets on Sea Road up in Kennebunk has a dog friendly patio. Other than that , I'm not sure....you might call other restaurants with outdoor seating to see what their policy is.... Port Cafe Bakery in Lower Kennebunk, Fisherman's Catch in Wells, Beach Plum Lobster, Barnacle billy's, Beachfire Grill, Cape neddick lobster pound, The Oarweed, Vinny's EastCoast Grille, Merriland Farm Cafe.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I figured we'd probably end up having her stay in the car or getting more take away/delivery. Which is fine, I just wanted to see if there were other options, as well. ;)

With Fisherman's Catch, if there's a "no dog" policy, you could get it to go and eat at the park just at the end of the road. There are picnic tables and a gazebo there.

you might try the Ogunquit Lobster Pound, they have outside seating at picnic tables. You can have your lobster and maybe the dog can sit with you out side. It might be a good idea to give them a call and ask, cant hurt!
