Asheville-eating w/abandon or if calories didn't count

If calories didn't count here's what I'd be eating drinking...
Breakfast - croissants at Well Bred in Weaverville or some of the brunch items on Stoney Knob (Weaverville) menu like stuffed French toast

Lunch - Tomato - fried plantains con crema

Dinner -
Nova - multiple cocktails

Sweets/snacks
cupcakes - the upside down pineapple cupcakes @ Jodi's Short Street in W. Asheville
Ultimate Ice cream - Black Mocha Stout - though haven't tried the bacon & maple syrup which may make the list
Chocolate Fetish truffles - ones made in store. French Broad chocolate - dk chocolate and sea salt caramels.

Leah is so right about the dk choc/salt caramels at FB and the Mocha Stout Ultimate.

    Where is Jodi's short St?

How about the "liquid truffles" at French Broad Chocolate Lounge? Or that beer float thingy they do with Ultimate Ice Cream? (Who cares if my gut is expanding just thinking about it???)

danna - you must try...www.shortstreetcakes.com Jodi supplies cakes like Apple Caramel to Admiral's. My kids are all hooked on the chocolate ganache. My fav is the pineapple upside down cupcakes. I like that you can get the minis and try several.

I went to Short Street for the first time on Saturday (on our way to Bele Chere). Had a mexican chocolate cupcake ($2). REALLY good. The kick hit about 30 secs after I ate the first bite. just enough. :) I liked the idea of minis too, but that particular day they only had those in one flavor (that I wasn't interested in).

We did Bele Chere right (IMO).....CinTom's for frozen custard and then, Short Street for a cupcake, both on the way in....cruised through some vendors, then spent a good 1 - 2 hours in Sante wine bar having a cheese/meat/olive/fruit board and a nice pinot grigio (it was hot out). Then, cruised back through Bele Chere on the way back to the car. Dropped my friend off at Fig to meet her family/friends (another half glass of wine while waiting for them - I opted to go home to eat with my husband). Very little time actually spent in the blazing sun, pinballing off tourists and vendors. Tried to get to Creme Patisserie too, but ran out of time.

thanks! I looked at the site but I still can't figure out what it's near on Haywood rd.

Great, I jut got home from France and instead of dieting like I need to, I'm hunting cupcakes.

head down Haywood away from Patton, cross over 240 and keep going like you are heading to Asheville. You'll make a left as Haywood goes down hill and it's this tiny little shop on your left. There's a parking lot across the street.

If you go to google maps and put in:
                225 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC‎

do the street view and rotate about 180 degrees from where it starts you and it's roughly across from that little red billboard in the parking lot. I think it's the red brick building across the street from the parking lot. if not, it's next door. It's a pretty non-descript area.

I'll chime in here with a second on the World's Best Carrot Cake. I stopped in their shop last Fall when I was up that way. Our little group all agreed it was the best they'd ever eaten. I bought some of their Devil's Food cupcakes, too. They were better than the carrot cake. I think I read somewhere (I believe it was on the bakery's website) that Earth Fare carries them as well.

Is WBCC sold at all Ingles, or just specific ones? We have celebrated the past two bdays in our family with their carrot cakes, and we were blown away both times.

Ohhh now your going to make me hungry but what a great post!

Breakfast: Jerusalem Cafe French toast with extra sweetened cream cheese + a mango mimosa. After 4 year I have still not been to Stoney Knob though I hear such great things, I will get out there...soon!

Lunch: Papas and Beer: Enchildas Blancas with cheese dip, 32 ounce Pacifico with extra lime and an order of churros. (high brow eatin' haha)

Dinner: I like Leah idea of the amazing unique cocktails at NOVA. I myself would probably eat there as well and order about everything on the menu ( and an extra scallop pana cotta)

Sweets: Churros and hot chocolate at Limones, Lava Cake at Red Stag, red velvet cake w cream cheese icing (microwaved for 8 seconds) from Filo, the carrot cake at Filo is a close second. Finally a tiny little ice cream stand between Old Fort and Marion that has amazing ice cream my faves include cheesecake and red velvet flavored :)

I'm pretty sure I gained 10 lbs just thinking about all this food, time to work out!

what ice cream stand are you talking about that is between old fort and marion? i live in marion and the only 2 ice cream stands i can think of is jack frost and dot's dairy bar. and if jack frost had red velvet flavored ice cream i would have been all over it by now. havent been to dot's dairy bar.

To be honest, I am not sure of the name. It is a small single wide looking trailor (looks a bit dirty/gritty actually). It is across the street from a Italian Restaurant and near a two story hotel (again a bit gritty looking). I wish I knew the name. They have about 40-50 flavors of ice cream including hand dipped and soft serve. I have tried the Red Velvet which was very very good (v v sweet) and the Blueberry Cheesecake which was not nearly as sweet but also good. I give the warning that I am not much of an ice cream eater so it may not be "great" ice cream but I enjoyed it a for a few bucks for a double scoop I would stop anytime I was out that way.

i think that is dot's dairy bar. because jack frost is almost right off i-40. and i think that dot's is across from little sienna. jack frost does have a strawberry cheesecake ice cream though. i havent tried it yet. but i think i may have to stop there soon for that.
