Dinner from Knotts Berry Farm back to San Diego

Need to get dinner on the drive back from KBF to San Diego in South Orange County. No fast food or take out. After a long day at the park, I think we'l need a nice little sit down that will take us in shorts. We love every kind of food. Something special to the area would be best. Thanks.

I love Pizza Port on El Camino Real in San Clemente. Their Mediterranean Pizza is delicious! Right off the 5 fwy too, easy peasy.

Sit down, but very casual, and beers to boot. I crave it constantly!

Why not eat at Mrs. Knotts and enjoy some great fried chicken and some boysenberry pie!

I'm a regular at the orlando parks which in general do not have good food and you pay through the nose for it so i prefer to eat off site. Is Knotts food that good and chowhound worthy?

Yes! Burger Boy is correct. The fried chicken is excellent, the cabbage is likewise and the pie is great. In fact, you might want to buy an extra pie to take home. Many people go to Knott's just for that dinner You might consider eating a early dinner and then returning to the park to walk it off, or walk through the shops there, before the drive home. Just don't ride any crazy rides after dinner.

How about Viet food? You could go to Vien Dong.

There are two places that fit the bill in my mind. Right on the main drag in old downtown San Clemente - Avila's La Ranchita. Really excellent home made Mexican in a nice room with a great back patio for outdoor eating. I took my parents there yesterday from out of town and they loved it.

Also in San CLemente - on PCH right off the freeway is a place called Tommy's. You can see their very high sign from the 5 FWY but we had never considered going there. Weird diner decor filled with Hollywood kitsch, but very broad menu. Classic burger type choices are good and big surprise is the Greek food - home made and quite reputable.
