Restaurant Recs Near RDU

  • 5

Hello All,

I'm in North Carolina, Raleigh-Durham/Hillsborough, for the next three days. Can anyone suggest some must eat places, particularly BBQ? We were given a suggestion of Ole Time BBQ near the RDU airport, but I couldn't find a post on it. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

    1. Try doing a search and you will find many, many suggestions. This is a frequently discussed topic. In my opinion, some of the best bbq in NC (if not the best) can be found at Allen and Son, on Highway 86 between Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. FYI - they are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

I would skip Ole Time...it's not bad, but not anything special in my opinion.

You are being kind by saying it's not bad.

      2. Guess I'm in the minority - I like OTB, but I wouldn't say it's especially near the airport.

        1. If you are looking for BBQ close to the airport than Smokey's is an option. Not traditional Eastern NC style, but really tasty. This is a no-frills, casual place open mainly for lunch. They now have dinner a couple of nights. Check the hours first!
