need Distrito advice

We have a reservation at Distrito, but I am having qualms.
I really don't like spicy food. I would love to enjoy it, but I can't. It is almost painful for me.
The other three guests will be fine - and happy.

Are there items on the menu that I will be able to eat?
Any suggestions?

  1. Ask the server to be sure, but I think you'll be okay with the Los Hongos huarache and I think the Carnitas taco isn't too spicy either. For a side dish, order the plantains. They are sweet.

Aside from those, load up on the guacamole.

    Good luck.

    1. Having grown up in the Midwest I can sympathize with you! I've gotten much better over the years, tho.

Many items are not spicy, just tasty. Even the vegetarian nachos have peppers that can be easily removed - I give most of them to my husband who is happy to have them. I'd follow Philly Ray's advice and rely on the server for other items.

      1. Sylvia you will have no problem. Their food is more savory than spicy. Make sure you have the duck tapas. We love it there.

        1. I can't recall what we ate but we tried a lot at Distrito, and I don't like very spicy, and nothing was painful or anything... just tasty! I would tell the server if you're especially concerned but I'm sure you'll enjoy :)

          1. I just did their "dining days" menu (not great, but that's another story). Besides a mild kick in the guacamole, nothing we got was spicy at all. Maybe if you are hyper sensitive the chipotle sauce on the short rib flatbread with get you.
