Katsu Sushi- BH Closed?

SouthernFoodie08 Jul 24, 2009 11:30 AM

I went for lunch yesterday to Katsu Sushi in Beverly Hills and it was closed. There was a simple sign up with no real explanation. But, a co-worker said she had been the previous week and it was closed then as well.

Does anyone know the story? Is Katsu closed permanently?

I finally found an article confirming they are closed: http://sinosoul.com/?p=3169

I am really disappointed. I always got great sushi from there. But, I have only been for lunch and it was never crowded. . .so I guess the writing was on the wall. . .

That's really sad news. Katsu was one of the LA sushi masters. Used to enjoy Tama, but, like many it seems, never got around to following him over to BH. Hopefully his absence will be short term.

I was afraid this was going to happen. Katsu opened his restaurant at the worse time i.e. just prior to and during the construction of the Montage Hotel and during a crumbling economy.

This is terrible news; he was one of the best sushi masters in town; I hope he can re-open somewhere else.

What's truly sick is that Katsu has closed and the dismal Nozawa flourishes. I wish Katsu the best--we were as regular customers as we could afford to be--and hope he returns before too long. No one in LA is better.
