Anything new and exciting between SYR and Utica?
I'm making a pilgrimage home to Central NY from the West Coast in August. I want to hit all of my old haunts and make new friends while I'm there. I will definitely be visiting Dinosaur BBQ in syracuse, Pepi's Pizza in Oneida, Florentine Pastry Shop in Utica and Petite Maison in Waterville. Please remind me of other places that I shouldn't miss and other newbies that are sure to become my new friends.
If you happen to know of any raw food, vegetarian, or vegan restaurants, I'd like to know about those as well. Thank you so much!

Just in case you haven't been there already -- I like Strong Hearts Cafe (it's right near downtown Syracuse). Their website: http://www.strongheartscafe.com/
It's small, casual, cute, and totally vegan.
My favorite thing on their menu is the balsamic dressing that comes on the Greek salad. I also like their vegan milkshakes, and personally, I enjoy the vegan BLT (I always add avocado). I'd steer clear of the citrus salad dressing (super-acidic), perhaps proceed with a bit of caution with sandwiches with the word "salad" in the name, and perhaps not order the tofu scramble (is fine, but I've had better). I've never had the waffles, but they look delicious!
Oh -- one more thing. Alto Cinco (in Syracuse, on Westcott Street) isn't new, but it's good, and definitely vegan-friendly (the BBQ tofu platter is tasty! Esp. if you like sweet/chipotle BBQ sauces, and tofu, which I do).
