Hi, all. I'm a native NYer visiting town. I was on the 5th Avenue bus today and couldn't help but notice that all the soft ice cream trucks above 23rd Street save one were off-brands. Why would there be only one Mister Softee truck in midtown or on the upper east side? Have I missed an important plot point? Please fill me in, thanks.

Maybe because they've all migrated to the Upper West Side. I see them all the time -- the real ones, not the knockoffs.

I know there was some kind of thing (lawsuit maybe?) in the past few years because some trucks were claiming to be Mister Softee when they weren't. Perhaps someone finally enforced their trademark. Other than that, I do not know.
