re: apples
Q in Mt. Kisco is very good, but when it gets crowded, they really struggle to put out quality food. The Port Chester one is a bit more consistent, though not as large or as nice an ambiance. Another great BBQ is in Valhalla called Southbound BBQ . It has a roadside casual pub-bar kind of atmosphere. It is very family friendly in the early dinner hours, and can have long waits. At night, it turns into a bar scene with live music. I have heard about a new place in Mamaroneck, but I have not been.

re: citygirl
Just went to Q the other night in Mt. Kisco and was very disappointed. It was not crowded at all as a matter of fact there was only 1 other group at a table. Ribs were very undercooked and tough and the sauce tasted bland to me. I've had their ribs (a while back) before in Portchester and it was pretty decent, not sure if I hit an off night or that the quality has really gone down. They use to offer corn on the cob in Portchester but not sure if they had that in this location or not, now that I think about it they did have something called cheesy corn but it didn't say anything about it being corn on the cob so I didn't get it. I wish I had (if it was on the cob) because the macaroni and cheese was thick and dried out. The collard greens weren't bad.

re: apples
Jfood stopped at Q in Mt Kisco on his way home fro the train station. He ordered a chopped beef sandwich and beans on the side. He was the onlyone in the polace buty it was 3PM on a beautiful saturday afternoon.
The food arrived. The beans were the first stop. Jfood really likes the sweetness of the beans as well as the pieces of meat that Q places into the dish.
Now jfood moved onto the sandwich. It was a fair amount of chopped beef in a reddish sauce. It looked more like the picture on the can of Manwich, not very appealing. Then when jfood took his first bite it was total disappointment. It was sloppy sweet, the sauce overpowered the meat, which was not the good either. It was not to jfood's liking at all.
If jfood is in the neighborhood, he might try another brisket sandwich, definitely not the chopped and he would definitely try the beans again.

re: jfood
I agree that the sauce is way too sweet and overwhelms the pulled pork. imho the way to go is to order the sliced brisket and ask them to hold the sauce. they really should offer a north carolina style vinegar based sauce. it cuts the fat much better than the tomato based sweet sauce.
