Patacón ?

I'm intrigued by this New York Times article and wondering if this Venezuelan plantain sandwich can be found in LA?

    Perla del Pacifico has the best patacon, but it comes as a side.You won't be disappointed because it is delicious.Get some to go and make yourself a sandwich.

    Cafe Bolivar and Coupa Cafe, the two venezolano places I know do not serve patacon sandwiches, just arepas, which in Venezuela are stuffed.Colombians eat patacones and arepas like bread with a meal.
