Road Trip: Kansas City to Breckenridge, CO

My family and I are driving from Kansas City to Breckenridge next month. Are there any stops along the way we should be sure to hit?

Also, any off the beaten path restaurants in Breckenridge we should visit? We have a two year old, so nothing too fancy, but other than that we are open to anything.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Many, depending on where along the route you would like to make a break, or if there is a particular type of cuisine you want. Also many neat places other than restaurants to visit if you want to take a break.

Junction City has great Korean food. Abeline has several good restaurants, the best known being the Brookville Hotel which is right off I-70 and serves only family style chicken dinners.

Salina has the 85 year old Cozy Inn which serves only tiny hamburgers.

The Bunker Hill Cafe has great steaks (beef, elk & buffalo) and home made bread. Open only Thursday - Saturday evenings.

Al's Chickenette in Hays is only 56 years old, but does a pretty good job on chicken as well.
