Thoughts on WTOP Breakfast Poll?
I found an interesting poll on the WTOP Web site concerning the "area's best breakfast." It was interesting to me, at least, because it includes restaurants I've never heard of or visited, and I'm always in the market for a good diner breakfast.
Here's the link: http://wtop.com/?sid=1721312&nid=25#
and here are the nominees:
Bob and Edith's
Bob Evans
Harold and Cathy's (Dumfries
)Mediterranean Breeze (Ashburn)
Nick's Diner (Wheaton)
Tastee Diner
Virginia Kitchen (Herndon)
Yorkshire Restaurant (Manassas)
Good choices? Are there better out there?

It's carryout only, but Blue & White Carryout in Old Town does some tasty breakfast sandwiches. Fried bologna. Porkchops. Even chicken livers.

The Double T Diner in Frederick near the FSK mall. Also, the Frost Diner in Warrenton on old 29 (haven't been in a while, hope it's still there). Favorite greasy spoon breakfasts; Steak and Egg Kitchen on Wisconsin in Tenleytown and City Deli on Bladensburg Rd. for the pastrami and fried egg on rye.

If you're going to go as far as Dumfries, you might as well go to Waffle House. Scattered and smothered!
Of all the Tastee diners, I prefer the Laurel location for the right combination of greasiness seediness. Silver Spring is a little too clean and Bethesda is a bit too cramped.
