I *LOVE* Hearth -- it is my new favorite Iowa City restaurant (which isn't saying much, but still . . .) I've only been twice, and each time I've gotten the same thing, so I can't speak too authoritatively about the entire menu. But the onion-gruyere-bacon flatbread was delicious, and the churros with chocolate flan for dessert were even more delicious. I can't remember a dessert anywhere that I've enjoyed more. It's true that you'd have to spend some $$ to walk away feeling very full, but in this case I'm satisfied with quality over quantity. Can't wait to go back -- maybe I'll even try something different next time!

Don't waste your time/$$. We love 126, so were curious to try this new place. It doesn't hold a candle to 126. Hearth can't seem to decide what it wants to be. The server told us the flatbreads, although $13 and up, are "not enough" for an entree, but too big (and expensive) for a "small plate"; she said they are about "3/4 of a meal". Huh? There are not enough small offerings, and too pricy, to make a tapas meal. There are very few entrees; ours were good, but overpriced. No salads are listed (wierd), although if you ask you can get an ordinary one for $6. Bottom line - insufficient selection, prices way too high, and this restaurant can't seem to decide what it wants to be. We'll stick with 126 for now.
